Marine Five Star Certification was created by the industry's efforts to organize a Grow Boating initiative beginning in 2005. The thinking surrounding Grow Boating was quite simple, really: We'll create a funding model to promote and increase participation in boating; we'll develop a national marketing endeavor to organize and implement that promotion; and we'll offer a certification program for both our manufacturers and our dealers.
The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas has supported Dealer Certification from its inception and has played a significant role in promoting the program to its members and across the industry at large. This program sets the standard for all U.S. and Canadian dealers to strive for when it comes to Sales, Service and Follow-Up Processes, human resources and training, and facility upkeep. In 2013, the MRAA took over the full management, administration and promotion of MFSDC as the program looked to evolve to enhance value and return on investment for those dealers that become certified and those manufacturers that support them.
Through a third-party analysis, dealers can navigate the certification process and become certified dealers, offering them a competitive advantage through increased sales and profits, increased customer and employee
loyalty, and more efficient and effective processes. Plus, when a new dealer
becomes certified for the first time that certification includes a free first year of membership with the MRAA.
