"We’ve been a supporter of the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas from the beginning, and we’ve always believed in the organization, in large part because it helps to educate dealers about the best practices for marketing their products and services,” says Bob Menne, president of Premier Marine, one of the countries leading manufacturers of pontoon boats. "And by supporting the MRAA, we feel we’re supporting all of the dealers involved in the organization.”
As a Platinum Partner, Premier backs the MRAA at the highest level, and the boat builder contends the relationship offers it great opportunities to build its own business. "The MRAA brings us in close contact with some of the best dealers in the country,” says Menne, who founded Premier in 1992. "The dealers associated with the organization are high quality and very committed to the marine industry.”
Like the MRAA, Menne believes in strong ties to his dealers and retail customers. That’s one reason he likes to emphasize that Premier is an independent, family-owned company. "A business like ours can establish closer communications with the owners and management staff of other companies. It’s a more personal relationship, which is something we think dealers really like.”
Premier of Wyoming, Minnesota, boasts a dealer network of about 150 for its Premier line of luxury pontoons that range in size from 16 to 32 feet, although the company also produces custom models up to 40 feet. Premier also works with about 70 other dealers who distribute the company’s recently acquired pontoon lines, Palm Beach and Weeres, entry-level brands manufactured in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Quality dealers are important to a company like Premier, which is focused on product development and innovation. A winner of multiple CSI awards, the Premier brand is known for top-notch craftsmanship and engineering, skills that have enabled the builder to bring some breakthrough designs to market, including a few patented features (the popular J Clip among them) that have broad appeal to the company’s target audience. Premier was the first manufacturer to introduce a triple tube outboard model to the recreational marketplace, it’ wood-free furniture is an important sales feature, and its patented PTX hull design has been critically praised for cornering and handling. Premier also is the first pontoon manufacturer to receive the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 certification.
"Our dedication to quality craftsmanship, practical design, new product development and continuous safety innovations sets us far apart from the competition and labels Premier as America’s only premium, family-owned pontoon brand,” says Menne. www.premiermarine.com
