Greg Knop, Family Boating Center
Greg Knop is sales manager of his family-run dealership, Family Boating Center, in Tampa, Fla. Below, Knop explains the business philosophy behind the Family Boating Center name and how it has colored the way dealership personnel work with customers and run the dealership:
"We realize that there are a lot of options for potential customers when it comes to purchasing a boat. As our company name, 'Family Boating Center' states, we want our customers to feel like family when they come into our stores. We decided not to carry several different types of boats, but rather focus exclusively on fishing boats and center consoles. At the dealership, it's our job to educate boaters about the activities they can enjoy on the boats that we sell. We find that many buyers are not aware of all the great things they can do with their boats and tend to buy a particular type because they think that's what they should have. The results from our family-oriented approach speak for themselves: This past month, we were named the '#1 Pathfinder Dealer,' as well as the '#1 Ranger Saltwater Dealer for Sales.'"
