John Irwin, Director

John started his professional "marine" career picking up trash under the Weirs Beach Boardwalk and running Irwin's Mini Golf-O-Lama. Eventually John worked his way into being a yard hand and a "tag along helper" to the mechanics at Irwin Marine, which was established in 1919 by his grandfather, James R. Irwin. He later moonlighted as a rigger/light mechanic. During his high school years he worked summers, weekends and after school washing boats, rigging boats and doing maintenance and janitorial work at the Marina.  
John attended Syracuse University as a dual major and obtained his BFA in Fine Arts and a BA in Education and has taken several college level accounting and F&I courses. Later on he went to work as the office manager for Irwin Marine. Early on, John established Irwin Marine's F&I/Business Office and handled all of the company's banking and retail / floorplan relationships. Presently, he is the Comptroller, Vice President and Parts and Accessories & Communication/Technologies Director for Irwin Marine's 5 stores throughout New Hampshire.
John is a director and has held every board position in the New Hampshire Marine Trades Association, is a member of the New England Marine Trades Association, is a member of ACMA and is a proud member of the MRAA Board of Directors.  John has been an active member of the Spader 20 Groups for the past 26 years.
John was the founding president of the nationally acclaimed White Mt. Adaptive Snow Sports School at Loon Mountain, is Past President and Chairman of Granite State Independent Living, Past President of Youth Services Bureau of the Lakes Region, Past President and Treasurer of the Laconia YMCA, Past President of Laconia Jaycees, Past President of the Exchange Club of the Lakes Region, past member of the Laconia Kiwanis Club, and a past Rotarian. He was one of the founding board members of the nationally recognized Belknap County Citizens Council on Children & Families, past chairperson of the United Way of the Lakes Region and is a board member of the Great Waters Music Festival. In 1993 Governor Steven Merrill awarded John the "Outstanding Volunteer Award" for the State of New Hampshire.
