MRAA Executive Administrator, Marge Eckenroad

Marge first began her professional career as a junior high school math teacher. After taking time off to raise her two young daughters, she re-entered the workforce taking a different career path in convention and meeting management.

She became owner and president of Convention Aid, Inc., which provided meeting services ranging from total meeting management to providing on-site staff. The meetings varied in scope and size, from providing a professional staff person for a small meeting to over 40 professionals to assist with registration and staffing needs for much larger meetings. She provided staff for more than 200 meetings annually, and her clients included: the Practicing Law Institute, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Illinois CPA Society, The Young Presidents Association, Direct Marketing Association, various medical organizations, and notably the Marine Retailers Association of America. Marge also became a Certified Meeting Planner, a meeting industry level of superior accomplishment.

Marge also was the financial assistant to the board for the Northfield Park District, where she was responsible for all accounting and financial management.

In the late 1980s when MRAA was in a staffing transition, Marge was asked by the MRAA Board if she would oversee the staffing transition for a six-week period. As the transition progressed, the Board asked if she would become a permanent fixture at MRAA. Because of her fondness for the industry and its people she gladly accepted the position. Her MRAA duties today extend far beyond meeting management to include total administrative over-site for the entire association.
