At the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas, we believe that for the marine industry to thrive, the companies that interact with the boater in their community must thrive. Those businesses determine the boater’s experience and are the leading factor in the industry’s success. The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas works to create a strong and healthy boating industry by uniting those businesses, providing them with opportunities for improvement and growth, and representing them with a powerful voice.

The MRAA is an association comprised of boat dealers, marine parts and accessories vendors, and all those whose livelihood is affected by the retail marine industry in North America. This group has been looking out for the best interests of marine retailers and the boating public since 1972.

Through the MRAA Rewards Program, we are proud to offer outstanding benefits to our members including: the representation of marine retailers' and the boating public's best interests in Washington, D.C.; a number of revenue-generating and cost-saving resources and advice; educational and performance-improving opportunities; as well as the strength of a large and powerful membership comprised of your peers in the boating industry.

Our Board of Directors is comprised of 11 Regional Directors — representing the United States and Canada — 4 At Large Directors, and 4 Officers. These board members volunteer their time to help to make the retail boating business the best that it can possibly be.

Whether you're looking for a formal position on the board or a committee or you're simply looking to network with other professionals with similar interests, we encourage you to get involved! The MRAA is comprised solely of those who depend on the marine industry for their livelihood. Our board is made up of dealers who are working hard to look out for the best interests of their fellow retailers. As those involved in any group of any kind will know, there is strength in numbers especially when those numbers come together to comprise a network for thriving marine retailers.

Be part of a United Voice

MRAA has a commanding presence on Capitol Hill, protecting the interests of its members. Many of today's most affirmative marine-related laws and policies lead back to the MRAA's leadership in Washington through the work of Larry Innis. Larry is the nation's leading authority and activist representing the MRAA and its members. For more than 20 years, Larry has tirelessly stood for constructive changes that affect the marine business as well as acting as a communication vessel between the MRAA and Washington. The far-reaching representation continues to put the concerns of marine operators in the forefront of the nation's lawmakers, as well as keeping MRAA members informed of changes and impending issues. MRAA Rewards Program: For Members ONLY
The MRAA's ultimate mission is to help its members run stronger businesses, through
benefits that create operational efficiencies and financial strength. And with that in mind, the MRAA works hard to design programs, through the MRAA Rewards Program, that will help dealers cut costs, generate revenues, educate their employees and improve dealership performance. in order to better run their operations. While retail membership is only $300, many of our benefits will return more than $300 in value. In fact, the average dealer who enrolls in our shipping and freight program saves more than $324 per year. Awards & Scholarships
The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas is committed to the continued health of the marine industry, as well as providing education and support to all of its members. Through this mission, the MRAA has created a number of scholarships to financially assist the professional development of those in the marine industry and has also set up an educational foundation to ensure this initiative continues to grow and prosper. The MRAA Educational Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation, was founded in 2004 to provide financial support for education, training and professional development in the recreational marine trades. MRAA and the MRAA Educational Foundation are dedicated to the growth of the recreational marine industry through workforce development. The MRAA offers three different educational scholarships.
  • The ABYC Scholarship offers members a chance to attend one of eight American Boat & Yacht Council training and certification courses.
  • The Kevin Lodder Scholarship covers the tuition and provides a travel stipend for the recipient to attend Spader Business Management's Total Management Workshop.
  • MRAA's Technical Scholarships are awarded to a state or regional marine trades association to offer financial assistance for technical training of dealership personnel.
Additionally, the MRAA presents, annually, the Darlene Briggs Woman of the Year Award. This honor, presented to an outstanding woman who is actively involved in the marine industry, presents the recipient with an honorarium from the Darlene Briggs Foundation to be used toward her continuing education.
